Republican Dan Woog, a former Erie trustee and state representative, has claimed victory in the race for House District 19, which includes parts of Boulder and Weld counties. Woog’s narrow lead of 123 votes falls within the margin for an automatic recount, but the outcome is unlikely to change.
“It’s a great day,” Woog said in a Facebook post last week. “Now I look forward to serving all of House District 19.”
Democrat Jillaire McMillan, a co-founder of Blue Trail Engineering, ran against Woog in an effort to retain the seat for Democrats. McMillan was selected by a Democratic vacancy committee in August, giving her a relatively short campaign window.
“This campaign has moved at breakneck speed,” McMillan said in a statement conceding the race. She added, “I congratulate Dan Woog on his victory and hope he maintains his promise to focus on people over politics. I trust the results of this free and fair election and extend my appreciation to the election officials who worked tirelessly to count every vote.”
The race was one of several key contests Democrats aimed to win to maintain their supermajority in the Colorado House, which allows them to override a veto by the governor and refer measures to the ballot without Republican support. Current election results indicate Democrats are likely to lose that supermajority.

This is sketchy. Jennifer Parenti who is long standing and tough representing the citizens of this district due to hostile environment and hmmmm. 143 votes, the hostile actors win. Not sure I’m surprised and I still think it warrants an investigation on dealings firing this past term and absolutely a recount for the upcoming term. Concerned Voter!
