On Monday, a $200,000 bond was set in Boulder County District Court for the suspect in a string of assaults involving a man armed with a heavy metal chain. Unlike an unsecured bond, the suspect would need to pay the full amount in order to be released.

Police say at least 10 people were assaulted or threatened by the 28-year-old man over the course of two days before he was arrested on June 27. He is expected to be charged with felony menacing, criminal mischief, attempted second-degree assault and second-degree assault, though the DA’s office may still file additional charges.

“By law, bond is set based on a number of factors, including whether someone is a danger to the community and likely to appear in court,” District Attorney Michael Dougherty said in a statement. “Our office asked for a high cash bond given the circumstances in this case; the judge carefully considered those factors in setting this appropriately high bond.”

  1. Why not list the name of the suspect? Is he still in confinement ? What about his previous convictions of similar attracts? Why is he not confined for those convictions?
