Boulder’s largest affordable housing provider is opening an application process for residents to get subsidized housing. The lottery for a Housing Choice Voucher runs from Tuesday, June 25, through Wednesday, June 26.
The Housing Choice Voucher program, funded by the federal government, helps lower-income families, older adults, and people with disabilities afford housing. To qualify, applicants must be adults under the age of 61 who have a disability or live with someone who meets the criteria. Additionally, applicants’ incomes must not exceed 50% of the area median income, which is approximately $51,000 for an individual.
With a voucher, households will spend no more than 30% to 40% of their monthly income on rent, according to Boulder Housing Partners. Unlike some forms of assistance, these vouchers do not have an expiration date, though they can be revoked if the tenant is evicted.
The lotteries are competitive. In the 2023 lottery, Boulder Housing Partners received 2,210 applications, but only 350 applicants were selected, highlighting the demand for affordable housing in Boulder. To apply, visit this page.

15% of demand is covered. Yet the developer is charged only 25% the cost of their project towards affordable housing. I don’t think this is what BVCP intended. And I think J/H imbalance is a lot more than the 60 K in-commuters that’s been reported for the last 37 yrs.
I’m 66 years old on disability of 1275.00 per month with my 16 year old grandson seeking housing thru your programs, homeless but temporarily staying with a friend until the end of month here in boulder county.
