This is a developing story.
Authorities are investigating after a deceased woman was discovered near the 40-mile marker of Boulder Canyon Drive on Saturday morning, Feb. 15. Boulder County Sheriff’s Office detectives say the woman matches the description of the CU Boulder student who was last seen Sunday.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office is working to confirm her identity and determine the cause and manner of death. Officials have not released her name, pending family notification.
Recovery efforts were complicated by hazardous road conditions and the challenging terrain, requiring a technical evacuation, including rappelling. Boulder Canyon Drive was temporarily closed to allow investigators and emergency responders access to the scene.
Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks, University of Colorado Police Department, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Boulder Emergency Squad.
