Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn on Thursday shared a detailed account of the emergency response to Sunday’s antisemitic attack on Pearl Street.
According to Redfearn and the timeline he presented, the suspect was in custody within five minutes of the first 911 call.
Here’s how events unfolded, according to the Boulder Police Department. Redfearn said the timeline is based on dispatch records, GPS and body camera footage.
Law enforcement response:
- 1:26 p.m. — 911 call is received by dispatch.
- 1:27 p.m. — The call is officially entered and dispatched, about 50 seconds later.
- 1:30 p.m. — The first Boulder police officer arrives on scene.
- 1:31 p.m. — The suspect is taken into custody.
- 1:31 p.m. — A second officer arrives, 27 seconds after the first.
- 1:34 p.m. — A third officer and a police sergeant arrive.
Emergency medical response:
- 1:31 p.m. — A fire battalion chief arrives and requests five ambulances.
- 1:32 p.m. — First paramedic fire engine arrives.
- 1:32 p.m. — Air ambulances are requested.
- 1:33 p.m. — First ground ambulance arrives.
- 1:35 & 1:36 p.m. — Additional paramedic fire engines arrive.
- Within six minutes — First air ambulance lands.
Redfearn said that paramedic-equipped fire engines were among the first to respond, which he said allowed life-saving care to begin within minutes. He described the investigation as ongoing, and said officials are still speaking with witnesses and identifying potential victims who may not yet have come forward.
Boulder Reporting Lab submitted public records requests for the call logs, but the requests were denied due to the active investigation.
City officials say a large police presence is expected downtown this weekend to ensure safety at public events, including a joint walk by the Boulder and Denver chapters of Run for Their Lives and the Boulder Jewish Festival.
