A reimagined Family Birth Center at Foothills Hospital

On May 2, nearly 350 people attended the Boulder Community Health (BCH) Foundation Spring Gala at the Boulder JCC. In an incredible show of support, the guests, sponsors and donor community raised $1.7 million for the Family Birth Center remodel. The evening featured a series of moving speeches and performances, all honoring the profound experience of birth, family and community.

As part of the program, internationally celebrated artists Trevor and Emory Hall donated a performance of an intimate set of songs and poetry reflecting the births of all three of their children at the Family Birth Center. Each moving piece demonstrated the important role BCH staff and facilities play during some of the most tender and memorable moments in patients’ and families’ lives.

About Boulder Community Health (BCH) and BCH Foundation

As the last remaining community-owned and operated nonprofit health system in Colorado, Boulder Community Health combines expert care with a strong community focus. With approximately 2,000 dedicated employees and more than 400 volunteers across a multidisciplinary system, BCH is committed to providing local access to high-quality health care in the Boulder Valley area.

Established in 1978, the BCH Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to inspire giving in support of BCH to enhance the quality and availability of health care in the community. Over nearly 50 years, community generosity has helped the Foundation raise $90 million in support of BCH, with more than $15 million granted in the past five years to fund capital projects and programmatic priorities.

Building on a century of care

Since 1922, generations of families have welcomed their babies at BCH, with more than 1,000 births in 2025 alone at Foothills Hospital. To build on this legacy and meet the growing needs of the community, BCH will renovate the Family Birth Center to ensure the care environment matches the excellent care the community has come to know, while giving families greater choice in the birth experience that’s right for them.

The renovation will update and improve labor and delivery and postpartum rooms with the latest technology and accommodations, making BCH an optimal choice for parents seeking a hospital, physician or midwife. The project will also redesign the physical space to support a more integrated nursing team, allowing for seamless care from labor and delivery through postpartum recovery.

Their commitment helps BCH continue to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Thank you to the BCH Foundation’s amazing 2026 sponsors!
