Location of the Skunk Canyon Fire on WatchDuty on Oct. 7, 2026.

Firefighters responded to the Skunk Canyon Fire in Boulder on Wednesday morning and established a line around the blaze, according to a 9:14 a.m. Watch Duty update citing Boulder County Sheriff Fire Management.

No trails were closed as of that update, but people visiting the area were advised to stay clear while crews worked.

Skunk Canyon is in Boulder’s foothills near NCAR, with trail access from NCAR and the NIST service road.

The National Interagency Fire Center reported the fire at 6:55 a.m. on Oct. 7 and listed its size as 0.1 acres. A containment percentage was not provided. A line around a fire does not necessarily mean it is fully contained.

The response comes a day after the roughly 6-acre Dry Creek Fire prompted evacuation warnings from Allenspark to Hall Ranch, west of Lyons. Officials lifted those warnings late Tuesday afternoon after crews stopped the fire’s forward progress. No evacuation orders were issued.

As of the last update Tuesday afternoon, the Dry Creek Fire was 25% contained, with about 100 fire personnel on scene.
