Kate Frizzell, born Katherine Holmes, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away Jan. 26, 2025. She lived a life filled with adventure, generosity and an unwavering love for those around her.
Born with a traveler’s spirit, Kate and her husband, Mark, embraced spontaneity by exploring France, Switzerland, Russia and Greece during their college years and road-tripping across the English countryside in a rented van. She graduated as a teacher from Brighton Polytechnic.
Kate and Mark married May 28, 1987, at Warnham Church, beginning their life together with a magical honeymoon in the Seychelles. In 1988, they moved to the United States, where Kate embraced new experiences and communities, living in New Jersey, Arizona, Texas, New York and Colorado.

Her passion for service led her to volunteer as a midwife’s assistant in New Jersey, where she welcomed her first child, Alexandra. Later, in Arizona, she played a pivotal role in founding the Prescott Waldorf Kindergarten, which evolved into the Prescott Mountain View Charter School. She gave birth to her second child, Christopher, in 1995. Later, the family moved to Austin, Texas, ensuring their children could attend the Waldorf school through high school. Always involved, she served on various committees, was a dedicated board member and even put her charming English accent to use while working at a spa.
When their children had grown, Kate and Mark moved to Saratoga Springs, New York, where she supported the work of Spacial Dynamics and Jaimen McMillan as his personal assistant. In 2023, she settled in Boulder, Colorado, following the birth of her beloved granddaughter, Thalia.
Kate will be remembered for her warmth, quick wit and the deep care she extended to everyone she met. Her love of cooking brought people together, and her humor could brighten even the darkest days. She was a woman of strength, kindness and boundless generosity.
She leaves behind a family who adored her and a legacy of love and laughter that will never fade.
