The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has announced that two climbers were rescued from Eldorado Canyon State Park on the night of Saturday, March 9. The climbers from Boulder, ages 22 and 20, were stuck on the top pitch of a cliff on Tower Two of the Redgarden Wall.

The sheriff’s office said that the two climbers started their ascent at 2 p.m., but moved slower than expected. By the time they realized they needed to bail from the route, it was getting dark. The two climbers did not have headlamps and determined that it would be too dangerous to rappel down. They decided to call for help.

Rescuers were able to determine the location of the two climbers and sent a team to assist. The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group sent a team up the East Slabs to the top of Tower Two. From there, the team rappelled down and assisted the climbers back to the trailhead. The climbers were then taken back down the East Slabs using several rappels. Both climbers were able to walk back to the trailhead. One of the climbers returned to the parking lot at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 10. Neither climber required medical attention.
